We’re still in awe of our incredible group of changemakers who completed the London Marathon on Sunday 21 April.

We spent the day cheering on our incredible team of runners, who's decision to sign up for one of our London Marathon charity places allowed them to showcase their sheer determination, compassion, and drive to make a difference.

We’re so proud of Team Christian Aid and all they overcame, and we couldn’t be more grateful that they took on this challenge to support us - all in the name of a fairer and more just world

Thank you to all our supporters who showed up to cheer on the team - the energy was electric!

Meet some of our runners

This year’s team was made up of so many phenomenal runners, like the inspirational Dave, who completed the London Marathon at 76-years-young, and Richard, a seasoned Christian Aid fundraiser who finally took the leap to tackle a full marathon.

Neither a natural runner or fundraiser, I found that the kindness of friends in sponsoring me and encouraging me spurred me to venture out on training runs on cold, dark and damp days. And knowing that I was training to run for such a worthwhile cause really sustained me when the legs started to ache.

By marathon day, I was determined to repay the faith shown in me and to channel the vital work of Christian Aid as I pounded the London streets, carried along on a great tide of goodwill. It was wonderful to finish and join the Christian Aid team, heartened that I had contributed a little to raising the profile of our great work and thankful for all the support I'd received from Christian Aid, sponsors and well-wishers.

I was delighted to be able to make a contribution to Christian Aid to help towards the amazing work that you do. The experience of marathon day was beyond any expectation, I had such a brilliant time. The support from the crowds kept me going without a thought about the mileage, part of me didn't want to get to the finish line as I did not want the experience to end!

I’d have run for Christian Aid either way – through the ballot, or happily now through Christian Aid’s slots. It’s been great having the goal of raising funds for a great cause with a supportive and engaged Christian Aid team there to help.
