Thank you for offering hope
A huge thank you for fundraising, worshipping and campaigning across Scotland this Christian Aid Week.
Your support will help farmers like Amelia and Aurelia in fighting the effects of the climate crisis. You’re helping their communities escape hunger.
For over 80 years, supporters like you have been part of a movement built on hope—a hope that speaks out against injustice and stands firm against poverty. This Christian Aid Week, you kept that hope alive.

Book Sales
It was great to visit a variety of lovely book sales that took place across Scotland this Christian Aid Week, including the annual sale at Edinburgh New Town Church (formerly St Andrew's & St George's West).
Supporters were able to browse a range of books, ephemera, toys, records and CDs. Due to your kindness and support, the New Town Church book sale raised an amazing £56,000! Kinnoull Church also organised a book sale for Christian Aid Week and raised approximately £1700. Our supporters also enjoyed browsing a selection of books at the annual Holy Corner sale in the main hall of Morningside United Church.
We were delighted this year to introduce new Christian Aid Scotland bookmarks for the 80th anniversary, available to be given away with book sales and stalls across the country. The bookmarks have already been seen in Edinburgh, Perth, Dunkeld and the East Neuk of Fife - could your church help them get even further? If you’ve already been running a book sale or stall, or are thinking of doing so, do get in touch and we can send these for your sale too!
A huge thank you to everyone who helped by donating and sorting items, shifting boxes, pricing books, and of course buying something. Thanks also to those who organised and attended Christian Aid book sales across the country.
Plant Sales
We planted seeds of hope at different plant sales this year, including the cafe and sale at Dunblane Cathedral.
It was lovely to see our supporters marking our 80th anniversary here too with some delicious cupcakes.
We also visited the Christian Aid Coffee Morning and Plant Sale in Peebles, as well as a sale in Mearns Kirk. This Christian Aid Week was a great opportunity not only to buy plants and support our work but plant a 'tree of hope' for 80 years of Christian Aid.

Coffee Mornings
Would it really be Christian Aid Week without a classic coffee morning?
We stopped in for a cuppa and a chat in different placesand towns round about! This included a lovely coffee morning in Gullane (pictured), as well as Livingston United Parish Church - where coffee and scones were available at their cafe 'The Barn'.
It was also lovely to pop into Newington Trinity Church's coffee morning so say hello and discuss our work.
Wherever you are and however you've organised for Christian Aid, please know how grateful we are for your support.
Quiz Nights
We continued once again with our annual Christian Aid quiz to give supporters some brain teasers and to promote another fundraising idea for churches.
Pictured is Head of Scotland, Val Brown, taking part in the quiz at Cadder (and her team came joint first).
Did you take part in the quiz this year? If so, find the answers here to see how you got on!
Once again, thanks to all who organised and took part in a quiz this year.

Services
While there were many wonderful services that took place across Scotland during May, we were able to mark 80 years of Christian Aid at a special service in St Giles' Cathedral, Edinburgh on Saturday 17 May.
The Right Honourable John Swinney, First Minister of Scotland, attended and delivered the keynote address, while we heard some fantastic music by the Wild Goose Resource Group and Siskin Green. Christian Aid CEO, Patrick Watt, was also in attendance.
During Christian Aid Week, we were happy to be joined by Temwa Kasakula, Christian Aid’s Global Thematic Advisor for Sexual Reproductive Health and Gender, who was visiting Scotland from Malawi thanks to a generous FaithShare grant from the Church of Scotland. She spoke at various services including those at St Giles’ Cathedral, Largo, and Inverurie Church.
Thank all who held services this Christian Aid Week -- the unstoppable power of hope is what keeps driving us to work for a world where all can live with dignity, equality and justice.
Concerts & Music Events
And of course, Christian Aid Week would not be complete without some amazing concerts and musical events.
We enjoyed listening to the Kilmarnock Brass Band (pictured) at the beginning of Christian Aid Week. Thank you to all those who performed and attended concerts throughout May.
Your support has helped communities like Amelia’s and Aurelia’s. If you've not had the chance to be involved yet this Christian Aid Week, your church can still do something later in the year to support our global neighbours. Or people can give directly on the website. Thank you.
