I have volunteered for Christian Aid for the past nine years and love being part of such a great initiative. Our church has changed the way we raise funds during Christian Aid Week, from door to door collection to running events like our annual quiz, coffee mornings and sponsored walks. It's not often you can do something with your own community and have such an impact on families all across the world.

Volunteering for Christian Aid is so rewarding because it connects me with people right across our church and local community - from young children to people in a retirement home—all of whom are joining together to put their faith into action. Whatever age you are, and whatever gifts and resources you have, Christian Aid offers something for everyone!

I enjoy volunteering with Christian Aid because it gives me the opportunity to learn a bit about development issues in an unfamiliar part of the world.

What I enjoy most about Christian Aid volunteering is the chance to meet people from all walks of life.

What can I do?

Here are some ways you can get involved:

  • Arrange a church collection
  • Plan a prayer meeting
  • Book a Christian Aid speaker
  • Host a fundraising event (eg a coffee morning; plant sale; craft afternoon).

Use your talents and creativity and make a difference your way.

What will I receive? What are the benefits?

  • Receive regular updates about our work
  • Connecting with other church volunteers in your region
  • Be the first to hear about our key appeals and events
  • Support from our church and community team
  • Free resources to support your activities.

Do I need any skills?

An interest in our work and lots of enthusiasm. No one has skills for everything, so it’s great if you get people to help with the bits they can do.

How long do I need to commit for?

For as long as you choose and find it valuable.

What else should I know?

To volunteer with Christian Aid, you must be over the age of 18.

In addition, both you and your church need to be based in England, Scotland or Wales

We're unable to accept volunteers from outside the UK.
