What is BRACT, and what does it do?

The BRACT programme's full title is: Building Resilience through improving the Absorptive and Adaptive Capacity for Transformation (BRACT) of at risk communities in Mutoko and Mudzi districts of Zimbabwe.

As part of the Zimbabwe Resilience Building Fund (ZRBF), BRACT helps communities prepare and adapt to a changing climate and economic shocks, and stand up for their rights.

Key information

Our aims:
  1. Improve capacity to anticipate, prepare and respond to shocks and stresses in order to maintain productive capacity.
  2. Develop diversified, viable livelihood options adapted to climatic and socio-economic shocks and stresses.
  3. Strengthen community voice and ability to engage service providers and enhance their participation in decision making.

 

Location:

Mudzi and Mutoko Districts of Mashonaland East Province of Zimbabwe

Timescale:

Five years: 1 October 2017 – 30 September 2022

Programme value:

USD$6,255,801.40

Who we're supporting:

Vulnerable households that are affected by recurring shocks, mostly related to climate change.  

We are building the capacity of 15,505 households, so they can absorb and adapt to unexpected shocks. Our aim is to strengthen the communities' ability to transform and adapt. 

A minimum of 4,652 households (30%) are female headed.
