Meet Beacon of Hope in Kenya
Our partner in Nairobi is a faith-based NGO called Beacon of Hope. Since 2021, we’ve worked together by supporting communities living in informal settlements.
Beacon of Hope shares our commitment to eradicating poverty. Their long-standing relationships in the community give them a depth of trust and understanding that’s central to how work succeeds.
Together, we’re delivering an urban farming project that supports families who want to grow their own produce, generate income and develop long-term resilience.

What do our partnerships look like?
The partnership between Beacon of Hope and Christian Aid looks to create lasting change through learned skills and increased confidence.
Participants learn how to care for cone gardens, which are vertical planters that grow hundreds of plants in a tiny footprint. They learn hydroponic techniques, water conservation, composting and how to preserve produce. They also develop business skills, like how to sell produce at the market.
The best part? Many participants go on to train others in their neighbourhood. Some speak at local schools. The knowledge really spreads through the community.
Belinda’s story is another inspirational tale of a woman striving for independence.
