When we give, we reflect God’s love and take part in His work of restoring hope.

The Bible reminds us that generosity isn’t only about money or possessions – it’s about sharing compassion, time and kindness with others.

Matthew 5:42  - Give to the one who asks of you, and do not refuse anyone who wants to borrow from you.

Give hope this Christmas

Your generosity can transform lives this festive season. With every gift, you provide food, shelter, healthcare and support to families like Chance’s, helping them survive violence and poverty.

What the Bible says about the power of giving:

  1. Matthew 10:42 – ‘And whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple—truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward.’
  2. Deuteronomy 15:10 – ‘Give liberally and be ungrudging when you do so, for on this account the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake.’
  3. Luke 6:38 – ‘Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back.’
  4. 2 Corinthians 9:7 – ‘Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.’
  5. Matthew 10:8b – ‘You received without payment; give without payment.’
  6. Psalm 37:21 – ‘The wicked borrow and do not pay back, but the righteous are generous and keep giving.’
  7. Proverbs 11:25 – ‘A generous person will be enriched, and one who gives water will get water.’
  8. Matthew 5:42 – ‘Give to the one who asks of you, and do not refuse anyone who wants to borrow from you.’
  9. Proverbs 19:17 – ‘Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and will be repaid in full.’
  10. Proverbs 28:27a – ‘Those who give to the poor will lack nothing...’

All of these verses are taken from the NRSV version of the Bible.

No crib for a bed... when you’re fleeing violence

As the festive season approaches, a time traditionally marked by tidings of peace and joy, we invite you to consider the reality of those facing unimaginable hardship due to violence.

A prayer for generous hearts

Loving God,

You gave freely and without limit.

Teach us to give with open hearts,

to share what we have with those in need,

and to find joy in generosity.

May our gifts bring comfort, hope and love

to our neighbours near and far.

Amen
Bring faith to life through your giving

Every act of generosity – whether prayer, time or a charity Christmas gift – brings hope to communities facing hardship. This Christmas, join us in reflecting God’s love through practical support for those who need it most.

Let generosity inspire faith in action

Giving is at the heart of the Christmas story. As we celebrate God’s greatest gift to the world, we’re reminded that our generosity – no matter how small – can be an act of love that brings light to others.

When we give, we not only meet practical needs but also nurture faith, compassion and hope. Whether it’s offering time, prayer or a charity Christmas gift, every act of giving is a way to live out Jesus’ teaching.
