Violence in Sudan has displaced millions of people. Huge cuts in international aid funding have reduced assistance that’s offered to communities living in a state of crisis.

So, for those arriving in a place of refuge carrying nothing but pain, exhaustion, hunger and thirst, your support is more significant than ever.

Your support is urgently needed now

Brutal conflict in Sudan is forcing families to run for their lives. Whether you’re giving as an individual or as part of a church community, your support could help families survive this crisis.

Why your donation matters now

'I gathered up the children and fled.’

For so many like Akech, fleeing conflict in Sudan means leaving your home to make a dangerous journey to a refugee settlement.

In the face of limited resources and thousands upon thousands of individual situations, cash assistance is an incredibly effective and quick way to support people to access food, water, shelter, medicine…whatever they need most.

For Akech, the most immediate benefit of emergency cash assistance was being able to buy food to feed her hungry family. But her other top priorities were aimed at building a brighter future.

‘I will pay school fees for my children,’ she said. ‘And my plan for this year is farming.’

Your gift could mean more families have the basics to survive today, and the hope to build a better tomorrow.

The unfolding crisis

Every day, the war in Sudan drives more and more people into South Sudan in search of safety.

To date, an estimated 1.1 million people have arrived. For many, including Akech and her children, the first place to stop is Renk in the northeast. Even at the best of times, life is hard in Renk. Here, it’s a challenge to meet your most basic needs.

During this funding crisis, when families are left without support, your donation today could fill that gap.

Pause and pray with us...

Lord Jesus, you were carried into Egypt in your mother’s arms, in search of safety.

We pray to you for those crossing into South Sudan to escape violence.

Shelter with your love all who have had to leave their homes and face an uncertain future.

Lord Jesus, you challenge us to love our neighbour, to do good, and to seek justice.

We pray that those who have the power and resources to act will turn their attention to this crisis.

Amen
